OpenHSI: UFS API

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

A few weeks back we had talked about the OpenHSI initiative where we outlined a vision to help SoC designers to seamlessly adopt Portable Stimulus as part other Test realization. We are pleased to announce the first public release of device driver(Bare metal software) APIs - for use in the test-realization layer of your portable stimulus models. This initial release supports UFS host-controller, with support for other protocols like PCIe, Ethernet, and more in the pipeline.

Universal Flash Storage (UFS) is part of the JEDEC standards becoming a de-facto high speed memory interface in Consumer Electronics, Communications and mobile platforms. Typically, smartphone and tablets have been using eMMCs to store information. But if you’ve recently bought a flagship device from leading consumer brands like Samsung, OnePlus or Sony, you must have come across the term UFS storage. UFS has also made its inroads into desktop and other computing platforms.

The API is being released under a liberal BSD license. Head over to our git page for more information.
